WINDOW SHOPPING

It just arrives one day. Two bottles the one day and then a small one seems enough. Fave jersey and suncream, thinnest gloves and short socks and then it’s just there! WTA…. It’s FREEZING! You scramble through the back of your cupboard for your winter gear only to realise you’re out in the cold. Never fear, we’ve put together some hot winter gear we suggest you add to your kit to keep you riding cosy right through winter.
GLOVES

ED’S TIP: ALWAYS full finger gloves! No matter what season! You just have to hit the deck once to realise why.
GILETS

ED’S TIP: The gilet is probably the most useful all weather garment as it can be used as a windbreaker when slightly chilly but can also can also be a game changer on a day that suddenly turns icy.
ARMS

ED’S TIP: If your hands and your arms are warm you will generally have a pleasant ride. Make sure you have a good set of arm warmers which you can always take off on the fly if you get too hot.
TOPS

ED’S TIP: A warm trunk is vital on those winter rides. Look for fabrics that wick away and dry quickly so as not to cool you down.
MERINO

ED’S TIP: Merino is the bomb for winter. Natural fibre, doesn’t get smelly, breathes and is super toasty. It can be used as a base layer or as a great natural fibre garment.
JACKETS

ED’S TIP: A wind breaker and a waterproof jacket are normally quite different. Keeping completely dry means a heavier garment that may not be easily stowed. The Ciovita Vindex is easily transformed into a Gilet on the fly, so the best of both worlds.
LEGS

ED’S TIP: Full longs mostly for your road training but the mid-leg or knee-warmers are normally more than enough for winter mud sessions.
SOCKS

ED’S TIP: Once again Merino winter socks are amazing, super comfortable and comfort will always trump material – so try them on!
HEAD & NECK

ED’S TIP: You lose most of your heat through your head so it makes perfect sense to put something on your pip. Keeping your ears and neck warm is an added bonus.
